Text about the exhibit
Swami Chinmayananda wrote books, commentaries, recorded the Geeta talks and other talks on Video etc. as the third step in Cultural Revival.

A Teacher should be understood through the teachings. The Teacher and the teachings are not separate. When we separate them then, we may get attached to the teacher and not follow the teaching.

This section is divided into 5 parts.
1. Introductory books
2. Commentaries on Scriptures
3. Puranic Stories
4. Commentaries on the Geeta
5. Upanishad Commentaries.

The above classification is based on the Kritajnataa verse and it also helps one to study the books in a systematic order from basics to the advanced level. “Vedanta is a science and so it must be studied in a systematic way.”

There are many other books and publications of Chinmaya Mission, available online on the website - www.chinmayamission.com / www.chinmayapublications.org

“It is a false notion that a national life can be created merely by an industrial progress. A true prosperity can never be ushered in by any amount of increased production – agricultural or industrial, unless the people have cultivated In themselves a healthy philosophy of right living. A philosophy of life, when lived by people, becomes the warp and woof of the very cultural life of that people. Thus viewed, it is not very difficult for us to realise how the missionary work of writing commentaries & compositions, by our Acharyas & saints contained in itself the plan for a heroic cultural revival in our country.”

Once when someone asked to meet & know about Swami Chinmayananda, he said “Im travelling, meet me in my books.
Read my discourses and be one with me in my thoughts. You will be transported into my world of joy and peace”

In 1991 Swami Chinmayananda spoke on the whole Gita inspite of 16% heart functioning, in Piercy. The purpose was, people will have the Gita talks with them for study, in good video quality. 3 classes in a day at 75years of age. Such was his causeless compassion.

Geeta was recorded in 1984 in sidhabari itself. But there was a lot of disturbance because the air of the fan above Swami Chinmayananda, was going into the mike. He said, think of it as the sound of Mother Ganga flowing. Irritability was transformed into devotion instantly. Vivekachoodamani in Sidhabari was also done by him again for the same purpose.

“A true son of Bharat must not only absorb the essential logic of the scriptures but must live them fully, experience the unfoldment so gained and come to expound, express and preach his scripture to the growing generation of his children. Members of each generation must, not only receive thus the torch of knowledge, lit up in the past and handed down to them, but they must with their own life, nurse and nourish its glow and hand it down to the immediate future.”

Design Notes

Chinmaya Prakashanam - Books & Publications

The display is a linear exhibit along a line of Ashoka trees. It is a pipe structure, designed and composed to resemble a route map - along the like of the trees. Front covers of the publications are displayed on the pipe as book-sized panels for the visitors to read. The covers can be flipped to view the backs as well. Books from each of the five categories are displayed in such a manner. Visitors may choose to view the books from the section they find most relevant to their interest and need.
