On 1st May, 2020, the study group led by Sevika Manju Malkani, (Panchsheel Churchgate group) celebrated Pujya Gurudev’s birthday in an online session on Zoom.
It started with the invocation followed by a short talk by Manju ji on one of Gurudev’s 108 names - Om Utsaha Vardhakaya Namah - Salutations to the one who inspires. She spoke of how Gurudev had inspired her in her spiritual and day to day life; how he had brought the highest knowledge to us in the comfort of our homes. Gurudev inspired all by walking the talk -He lived as he preached combining Seva with the spread of spiritual knowledge.
Other Names selected by the class members to speak on were:
Om Vinoda Priyaya Namah - Salutations to the one who loves humour.
Om Jagat Sakshine Namah - Salutations to the witness of the world.
Om Bhaya Naashanaaya Namah - Salutations to the destroyer of fear.
Om Vagmine Namah - Salutations to the Eloquent one.
On Angla Bhasha Viduttamaya Namah- Salutations to the one who is most eloquent in English.
Thereafter, all the 108 names of Gurudev were chanted and some members recounted their personal experiences with Gurudev.
This was followed by Gurudev’s videos on Mumukshutvam. Who is a Guru, What questions should I ask or not ask the teacher. A short discussion followed. Everyone joined in to make this an occasion of remembrance, devotion and celebration of the life of Gurudev.
