The significance of Mahasivratri was explained. Devi Parvati did tapas to get Lord Shiva. She wanted to marry him. She performed pooja of Shivlinga for many years. We can do maanasa pooja if Shivlinga is not available. Children were asked to visualise Lord Shiva in the mind with chanting of two verses of Shiva Maanasa Stotram. After doing manasa pooja, children were given Shivalinga, to which they offered bilva patra and flowers, alongwith chanting of Mrityunjaya Mantra eleven times. Celebration was concluded with bhajans of Lord Shiva, aarti and prasad distribution.
