Mahima Zone Bala Vihar children participated in Sloka Competition conducted by Sankara Mattham, Matunga. Children in different age groups, from Senior KG to Std. VIII recited Kashi Panchakam, Totakashtakam, Panduranga Ashtakam diligently and with religious fervour. The competition was conducted in front of Lord Shiva’s sanctum in the temple.
After the competition, Thiru Ganesha Sastrigal (chief priest of Sankara Mattham) taught the children Margabandhu Stotram written by Appayya Dikshitar, a hymn recited to Lord Shiva. Recitation of this sloka during travelling brings victory and success. Daily recitation removes all hurdles and the devotee receives the blessings of Lord Shiva. Sankara Mattham members honoured the judges, Smt. Sheela Chitnis and Smt. Meena Ramachandran. Children were given certificate of participation. Ganesha Sastrigal felicitated the prize winners with cash awards. The event ended with prayers and prasad distribution.
