Chinmaya Family Pathshala is a school for cultural and spiritual learning, where children and adults learn universal values, together as a family. Children look up to their parents as role-models. Pathshala provides the way to right thinking, through values enumerated in Indian scriptures and a dharmic way of living with parents. Pathshala highlights the knowledge of the scriptures, as a powerful dimension of human experience and family life. Pathshala, with the aid of basic Vedantic concepts, instills values in children, keeping in mind the growing diversity and complexity of spiritual beliefs and practices in society, within families.
Patashala aims to integrate various grass-root activities of the Mission like Study Groups, Bala Vihar, Chinmaya Yuva Kendra, Geeta-chanting; all under one roof, during weekends. Pathshala provides a common platform for seva by sevaks and sevikas of the Mission; the aim is to groom the next generation of young sevaks. Children and parents assemble at the same venue, chant slokas and then the children disperse for their classes, to re-assemble for aarti. This provides a family atmosphere and helps achieve the objective of making parents role-models.
Chinmaya Family Pathshala is a 36-day course. 32 sessions will be learning together as family. Four sessions are for celebrating festivals together. The duration of each session is ninety minutes during the weekend. Elders benefit from the classes on Indian tradition and culture, lectures on the scriptures and exercises on personality development. Lectures have already proved propitious with Group Discussions and Case Studies. Learning the basics of Sanskrit, Bhagawad Geeta, prayers and stotras are included in the sessions.
Bala Vihar at Pathshala has a graded syllabus, according to the age or standard of the child. The spiritual practice helps children get acquainted or comfortable with spiriotuality, helping them adapt easily, early in life. Geeta-chanting, prayers, fun-filled games, songs, crafts, value-based skits, celebration of festivals, character-building exercises are undertaken by the sevaks and sevikas.
