Senior Bala Vihar children celebrated Gita Jayanti and Tapovan Jayanti for two consecutive days. Children and parents chanted verses from Bhagawad Gita Chapter 18. Tapovan Shatkam was chanted. Sevika Mangala P. narrated two very inspiring and important anecdotes from the life of Tapovanji Maharaj. The manner in which he dealt with his disciples to inculcate Vairagya in daily life is most inspiring. A Gita Quiz was held – some questions asked were the meaning of Bhagawad Gita, names of the meters in which Gita is chanted, stanza 11 of Chapter 2, how many characters converse in Gita and who are they, chant the verses common in Vishnu Sahasranamam and Gita, Sri Krishna’s concluding verse in Chapter 18 and why it is special. Children and parents enjoyed the quiz.
At the residence of the sevika, an extension of Gita Jayanti celebrations and Karthigai Deepam was an added bonus for the children. There was an interesting Gita Crossword Puzzle, together with chanting of Chapter 18. Children lit lamps and arranged them on the Rangoli drawn at the entrance of the house, in celebration. This session concluded with prayers and prasad distribution.
