Guru Purnima was celebrated at Juhu Jagruti Hall, Vile Parle West, guided by Swami Swatmananda. Students of Bhagawad Gita course, sevaks and sevikas of Chinmaya Prakash zone worked together with great devotion, intense gratitude and complete seva bhava to put together a very vibrant and wonderful program. A beautiful scene from Skanda Purana portraying the significance of Guru tattva was depicted in a skit, based on a dialogue between Shiva and Parvati. It showed the Lord explaining the importance of Guru and on the request of Parvati, singing Guru Gita, a part of which is Guru Stotram.
Swamiji had divided the students of Bhagavad Geeta course into five different groups. Each group had been asked to put together a performance depicting first five verses of Guru Stotram. Group members used various methods including role-play, skit, mantra-chanting, story narration and power point presentation to present the focal meaning of each verse. All presentations were truly engrossing, involving sincere seva bhava and offering of gratitude. Swamiji spoke on Guru Parampara and how fortunate we are to belong to the lineage of great masters, who have passed on ancient knowledge to many generations, thus protecting Sanatana Dharma. Paduka Puja was performed with chanting of 108 names of Veda Vyasa and 108 names of Pujya Gurudev. The event ended with sevaks and sevikas of Chinmaya Prakash zone doing aarti and distribution of prasad.
