Rajasthani Mahila Mandal runs an NGO called Nandan to empower the lives of slum kids. Since the last four years, Bala Vihar Sevikas from Chinmaya Mission South Mumbai have been imparting the knowledge of Indian culture and traditions to these children. During the academic year 2018-19, the children were taught stories from Bhagawatam (Dashavataar). For Annual Day celebrations, on 9th March, the children presented a drama on Lord Vishnu’s Narasimha avataar. They beautifully depicted the devotion of Prahlad and the fall of Holika. The play was very well received by the trustees of the Mandal, other dignitaries and parents.
Every Saturday, Bala Vihar is conducted for about thirty students, all of whom belong to the weaker economic sections of society. Nandan has recognized the contributions of Chinmaya Mission Sevikas in uplifting society, by imparting value-based, spiritual education to children. The sevikas were felicitated for their untiring efforts.
