On the bright Saturday morning of 29th December, two busloads of Chinmaya Prerana members, consisting of youths, parents, Bala Vihar children made their way to Saguna Baug, nature park. The journey started on a high note with a lot of crackling excitement, bhajan singing and laughter. The hungry group was welcomed at the park with a hearty breakfast. A field trip was conducted across the 55-acre park, which boasted of medicinal plants, innovative farming techniques and rich flora and fauna, including Indian-bred sweet water fish. Park volunteers netted few of these for the audience to touch and experience. A swimming session in the cool Ulhas river flowing nearby was enjoyable, followed by lunch. Boating was the most sought-after activity post-lunch. The park also offered camel, horse and bullock cart rides. Brave hearts could also enjoy a zip-line ride or walk with emu birds. Children were entertained by the in-house magician. The day ended with tea, coffee and fond memories. With Gurudev’s grace, Mahalakshmi mata’s blessings and meticulous planning by the organizers, the picnic was a welcome break.
