Bala Vihar children, age group 5 to 8 years, celebrated Dussehra with the theme of Saraswati as goddess of all arts, since the class day fell on Mahanavami day of Navaratri. Saraswati puja is performed on this day in Tamil Nadu, wherein books and musical instruments are kept at the puja altar. Older children of the society were guest performers, showcasing a variety of arts. They were Omkaar on guitar, Tanishka on keyboard and Sivaranjani performing Bharatanatyam. The dance described Lord Shiva as Nataraja and his divine dance. The finale was a song Santatam Paahimaam, a composition of Muthuswamy Dikshitar rendered by the Bala Vihar children, accompanied on guitar and keyboard by the older children.
