Janmashtami was celebrated at Kalina Santa Cruz East by Shishu Vihar children, parents and sevikas, during their regular class on Saturday morning. It was weekend-fun with Krishna and Radha! One of the parents wrote a remarkable feedback that sums up the celebration as follows: ‘With so many festivals lined up from August till November, Shishu Vihar has been something that my son and I really look forward to. This week’s class started with Krishna Janmotsav. It started as usual, with prayers, Om-chanting and rhymes. This transformed into a full experience of Krishna’s life. The kids were made to enact the motions of Vasudev crossing Yamuna, with Krishna on his head, Krishna’s Kaliya Mardan, playful Krishna’s love for butter and showing his mother entire galaxies in his mouth, breaking the dahi handi etc. Thanks to sevikas Raji and Pushpa, who had left no stones unturned in getting everything ready for the event; like butter, bansuri, Krishna’s crown (which was made by the kids in the class) and other relevant props that brought Krishna’s leelas so beautifully to life, for these impressionable young tots. My son loved his new crown, bansuri and the lovely stories he had learnt in the class. We are now waiting for Ganesha’s stories, in just two weeks!’
