To begin the new academic year on a positive note, the Management of Jaipuriar School, Sanpada invited Shri Parindra Kadakia to conduct a three-hour workshop for the teachers, to enable them to rediscover the ‘Joy of Teaching’. At the start of the session, he talked about the impact of technological innovations and globalization on the teaching profession. The humungous changes like virtual classrooms, global communications, distance learning that are changing the entire landscape of operation for the teachers making them almost robotic. He then reiterated the need for teachers to step from the role of just an information provider to the role of a Guru – dispeller of darkness and a torch bearer to the younger generation
Beautiful verses from the scriptures were quoted and explained to bring out the true meaning and virtues of a Guru. He pushed the audience to rethink and redefine their current role as a teacher and to escalate to that of a ‘Guru’. The teachers enthusiastically participated. Finally, Parinbhai drove home the point of how the quality of teacher determines the quality of a citizen which in turn determines the quality of the Nation. The workshop was very interactive and Parinbhai incorporated relevant activities and games. Around 50 teachers attended the workshop. The Principal of the school wanted more such programs in the future.
