To address a curious audience of about 100 people on the topic of Bhagawad Geeta and Nation Building, Chinmaya Prerana, as part of its annual Chinmaya Memorial Lecture organized two amazing speakers – Shri Jayant Patil, whole-time Director and Sr. EVP, Larsen & Toubro Defence and Swami Avyayananda, Chinmaya Mission, Ahmadabad to share insights.
Jayantji narrated the journey and commitment of L&T in Nation Building. L&T has been instrumental in powering strategic initiatives of the nation, ranging from securing peace (military strength ensures peace in a way) to energy security (among the world’s largest offshore structures - Bombay High), enhancing living standards (built large airports in record time) to exploring the limits of space (with lowest price points vs global equivalents). He revealed the ‘HOW’ aspect of L&T achieving these great feats are the Bhagawad Geeta concepts. This kind of infinite potential only comes from a higher ideal. It teaches us to face the world with fearlessness, detachment and stability of mind.
Swami Avayayanandaji in his lucid style introduced the tool – Bhagawad Geeta for Mind and Man Management. He set the context step by step unfolding the journey of Arjuna from Vishad leading to Yoga, from no vision to clear vision. This transformation journey from No Drishti to Divya Drishti in modern day parlance is ‘recognizing your true potential’. Shri Krishna knew if he could transform Arjuna (as a leader of society) then nation-building would happen automatically and at the end of Chapter 18, we see Arjuna’s transformation. So if there is someone as industrious, prosperity, success and growth are bound to follow. Arjuna understood his true potential and was ready to serve. We have to first work on ourselves and our mind. When I transform, my country transforms! Self-Transformation leads to Nation Building.
