Mahasivaratri was celebrated by Mahima Shishu Vihar, with Swami Swatwanandaji.
25 children participated; there were also non-Shishu Vihar toddlers present, who came with their parents and grandparents to celebrate. Swamiji addressed the gathering in his own endearing style for very little children! He kept the toddlers entertained, by talking about the significance of Mahasivaratri, educating one and all through stories and anecdotes from the Puranas. The toddlers sat on the laps of their parents, as they did puja to individual Sivalingas, guided by Swamiji; this was a wonderful experience for all. Mahima Bala Vihar children performed a skit on Siva, Parvati and Vishnu.
Children played several games like mountain-climbing with hurdles, Snakes and Nandi-Ladders and others. Children were taught to make Shiva's accessories, like japa mala, trishul, puja craft and more. There was even a tattoo artist, which children and adults enjoyed. All this was possible only through the efforts of Dimple Parekh, Bhavna Sarawal and their team of dedicated sevikas, who had worked hard to make this event a success. They were amply rewarded by the sight of the praying, playing and happy toddlers! The event concluded with aarti. There was prasad in the form of sumptuous snacks and lunch, thoughtfully planned by the sevikas, even for the little ones.
