On 31st August 2021, Chinmaya Sagar Zone, Mumbai celebrated Krishna Janmashtami online Live on Zoom from 11.am to 12.15 pm.
The programme was a devotional offering by the Panchsheel Study Group members of Mrs Manju Malkani. The theme was Krishnam Vande Jagatgurum.
On this joyful occasion, a variety of items was presented by all the members of the Study Group.
The events were as follows:
• Invocation
• Krishna Janmashtami Celebrations in different parts of India - A pictorial presentation with
narration.
• Teachings from the Bhagawad Gita by study group members. Each student chose a shloka
from the Bhagawad Geeta which inspired her and explained its significance in her life.
• Krishna’s Lilas - Stories from the life of Sri Krishna. The fascinating, endearing and inspiring tales of Chhappan Bhog, Udhav’s enlightenment, the devotion of Vidur’s wife and the story of Shishupal’s death were recounted by the students.
• Evocative Darshans of Sri Krishna – a wonderful pictorial Yatra to various temples dedicated to Sri
Krishna with narration.
• Chanting of 27 names of the Lord – a spiritual experience on this holy day.
• Significance of Sri Krishna’s adornments – Sri Krishna being the avatar of Lord Vishnu, every object connected with him has a very deep meaning. The significance of these were explained with beautiful pictures.
The programme ended with an Arti, Closing Prayer, group photographs, announcements and a vote of thanks.
A special mention must be made of the contribution of Shri Jaykishan Hingu, an M.A. student in Bansuri and to Sri Dipin Das, Tabla M.A. student, both from Chinmaya Naada Gurukula; and to Smt Pramodini Rao, Director, Chinmaya Vishvavidyapeeth, who kindly allowed us to use their recording for our celebrations.
