Guru Smaran Saptah-Day 6, May 8th
Saturday morning class.
Sevika -Shruti Somani
Attended by 10 (including Sevika).
A beautiful altar was decorated by Smt. Mala Agarwal.
The session began with all members taking turns to chant different verses of the Guru Stotram.
Members were very excited to discuss the book!
Like the other classes, here too it was felt that there was so much to learn in terms of endurance, tapa, keeping the goal in mind always like Pujya Gurudev did, keeping one's sense of humour in the most physically challenging times, never forgetting the Lord's name (Gurudev's unwavering bhakti was highlighted in the discussion), how He was so compassionate, politically aware, disapproving of people misusing religion, disappointment at superstition, how He kept in touch with family and loved ones, took the learnings from the Mahatmas so humbly. There was a lot more.
What was especially lovely that reading about Gurudev as the sadhak, members were very inspired that they could too, reach for the Highest. Even if we could reach 1% of what He seems to have ,we would be happy, said a member with the drive to aspire!
The important thing was that members felt it was possible. Whilst so for the relatability with Gurudev so far has always been as our sadguru, now with the reading of this book and seeing different sides, they felt closer and inspired to bring about change, much like He did.
Many read out passages from the book that had touched them particularly. There was a mention that maybe the class could plan a trip together.
One interesting question that arose was, can we treat our lives the same way due to the many difficulties that exist and have an attitude of it being a tirth yatra!
Ms. Sheetal Mehta sang the Guru Paduka stotram beautifully.
We concluded the session with a Guru bhajan and Chinmaya aarti.
