Reflections on “My trek to Uttarakhand “
The talks were led by Dr. Gita and followed by inputs from Dipti, Ketki, Shobhana, Prabha , Savita, Parul , Neha, Ankush and others. His is the journey of a sceptical scholar at one end, to a sadhak and then to a Mumukshu. The trek was not only a journey of physical and mental evolvement but mainly spiritual involvement. His travails can be likened to a journey of our very own lives experiencing pleasure intermingled with pain. We need to do Brahmavichara every moment of our lives in order to evolve both outside and inside. Admiration for Gurudev’s tenacity perseverance and passion to reach his goal is an inspiration. His journey of physical pain, discomfort and of basic amenities were never accompanied by complaints only humour.
Gurudev was so mindful of everything: the Deodhar trees, the magnificent snow-capped peaks the gushing rivers , the pahadi coolies and even the political clime. Such awareness can only come if one lives in the moment. His humility in submitting to the experienced knowledge of a mere pahadi is admirable. The meticulous travelogue with maps, dates , time and details is stupendous in its execution. His discipline in the daily routine is exemplary, his medical acumen and storehouse of home remedies fascinating and the fact that he was ready to share them.
To personify nature is to identify with it and then to become one with it is the next step. Mithu concluded by remarking that we make every issue a point of worry - when only if we surrendered, then we could see, that life loves to live through us and will always take care of us.
The session ended with the recitation of a poem on the trek, followed by Gurudev’s Aarti and closing prayers.
