Guru Smaran Saptah
Day 4
6th May, 2021
Thursday Study Class
Sevika : Bina Kejriwal
Members : 7
We started the session by Lighting a Diya at the altar which Sudha Ajmera had prepared at her residence . We then went on to chant the Guru Strotram; each participant recited two verses.
We continued with chanting 108 names of Pujya Gurudev along with the meaning of each name (audio visual). All the students then shared their reflection on the book “My trek through Uttarakhand”
Here is a synopsis of the same:
-It was like a virtual trip to Uttarakhand, everybody felt personally connected to Gurudev and it was like we were all there watching him learning and getting inspired by his journey
-We could actually see the beauty of the forest, feel the exhilarating silence of the mountains, and understood the oneness with nature because of the way Gurudev expressed the different moods of the 2 rivers as if they were alive and Brahman itself flowing as water.
-Gurudev walked us through the extremely different and difficult Terrains continuing thru all the ascends and descends (like the ups and downs in our life) to reach his goal …..we got a peek into what it is living in the mountains.
-Beauty of Silence- “silence is the substratum on which are wafted the tiniest sounds , a twinkling bell, the crackling of branches overheard , the whisper of the breeze ,even the soft sounds of one’s own breathing” and understood how Important silence is for spiritual progress.
-And was guided by his interaction with the saints and his respect for their wisdom which cannot be got from books.
-His humour even when he was in physical pain , remaining without the required food made us understand Titiksha and Sama and Dama …. It was as if he had transcended all bodily pain.
-His perseverance in spite of all the odds he was facing ,his single pointedness to reach his goal, it’s something we will all practice to imbibe in our everyday life.
-Got clarity of the importance of faith, prayer, contemplation and discipline and how we should be sincere in our spiritual Sadhanas to progress.
-And got a better understanding about what we are seeking is inside us - Delve within and reach the inner “Gomukha” and drink the real inner “Gangaajal” which is possible with Shraddha and Prem.
-We ended the session with two bhajans sung by Sudha Ajmera and Rupa Gosalia
Sudhajis Bhajan was about welcoming the guru into our homes and our lives and how selflessly they help lift our souls and help us realise our true selves once we are under their guidance. Rupajis bhajan was about worshiping and thanking the Lord for taking us in his shelter, it goes on to say how the Lord has filled our lives with Colour and his fragrance and we can feel his presence all around us.
We are indeed very blessed to have the guidance of such a Guru.
