GURU SMARAN SAPTAH Day 3
May 5th 2021
Sevika: Vibha Mittal
Class: Wednesday ( currently conducted on Zoom)
Attendees: 12 including Sevika .
The class started with invocation and Guru Stotram (sung by Sucharita Krishnan)followed by each student sharing her inspiration from Gurudev’s diary ”My trek through Uttarakhand”.
All the members felt that the book helped them in their lives and in their spiritual journey. It was opined that the description of nature were so beautiful that even if we travelled Gurudev’s journey it would be impossible to see it the way he did.
Gurudev’s journey taught us that we too can gain our strength from the beauty of nature all around.
His description of the River Bhagirathi taught that like the sacred river went around the boulders bypassing them we too should bypass all the obstacles in life with as much grace as the exquisite river.
When he writes of the mighty mountains filled with knowledge we begin to understand that we though very minute in comparison to the mountain are a part of the timeless ageless experience.
From the hardships Gurudev went through we understand that we have to like him never lose focus of our goals, and stay determined.
We also learn that it is only through pain that we can evolve. Another important learning was that Shiva or Purusha in us can dissolve the Parvati or Prakriti within us if we retain a firm resolve. Another important learning was that just as the stone could not feel the cold because it was coldness itself , so too we cannot feel the Self as we are the Self.
Hence though our spiritual journey may be difficult we must continue and not waver from our ultimate goal - to realize our divinity.
All through his journey we see that despite the hardships, Gurudev never thinks of himself He never forgets the nation &those who are sick or in pain.
A beautiful altar set up by Sucharita Krishnan who experienced unbelievable joy of being able to set up the altar and perform the 108 names of Gurudev and followed by Aarti.
After the Aarti, Sucharita and Vibha sang guru bhajans followed by chanting Guru paduka Stotram.
The celebration ended with The pledge in HIS voice and concluded with the closing prayers .
The entire class felt elevated to a higher level and motivated to take on life with a new zest.
