On the morning of 27thApril the Saturday class of Smt. Shruti Somani, at Breach Candy was hosted by Smt. Sheetal Mehta. Of the 18 that attended, there were many invitees who were new and not part of the class. Smt. Shruti Somani, speaker for the day, highlighted the significance of a Guru in an interactive session.
Do we need a Guru? And if yes, why do we need one? Who is a Guru? Can your parents/ teachers/ friends be your Guru? Do you seek a Guru? Or does a Guru find a seeker? Shruti shed light on such ideas. The word Guru was explained in great detail, and different definitions were discussed. The members understood the difference between a Guru and a Sadguru as they discussed the various types of Guru.
They then talked about Gurudev, His journey, and all that he accomplished in his lifetime. Experiences of some devotees with Pujya Gurudev were read from the book 'At Every Breath A Teaching' wherein Gurudev in his most humble and gentle ways would teach his devotees about how the ego and mind play its game and tricks us! The session ended by chanting Gurudev’s 108 names followed by Chinmaya Arti.
