This year our Geeta Dootas had approached 12 schools in Chinmaya Narayan Zone , i e, Area No.10 and 11. Nearly 2,100 students were enrolled for the competition. Most of the schools encouraged their students of pre primary, primary and secondary sections to take part in the competition. Geeta Dootas acceded to the requests of schools to teach the 18th chapter to the participating students.
In addition, there were Miscellaneous rounds in both Areas for the students whose schools did not entertain the Geeta competition. After Preliminary Level competitions, out of 2100 students total 412 students were selected for Area finals. Also 22 elders of G and H Groups participated.
Area finals were held on 23rd December 2018, morning at General Education Academy, Chembur, for Area No.10 and afternoon at R N Gandhi High School, Vidyavihar, for Area No.11 respectively. 12 Judges from Chinmaya Mission Mulund came for judging. During the competition, Smt Indira Someshwar and Smt Ujjwala Sethna addressed the parents explaining the importance of Geeta chanting by the children and also the activities of the Mission. Smt Manali Gore, Administrator, General Education Academy, also addressed the students and parents of C Group and distributed trophies to winning students. For other groups Judgers handed over the trophies.
