Guru Purnima was celebrated at our Centre and more than 30 devotees assembled to show their gratitude to our revered Masters. The program started with the chanting of the invocation and Guru Stotram. Paaduka Puja was performed; yajman being Smt. Jayashree and her husband, Shri Balagopal. Thereafter, some soul-stirring bhajans by Smt. Jayashree, Smt. Archana Prabhu, Smt. Indira Someshwar and Shri P. B. Someshwar were rendered. Smt. Jayashree expounded on the glory of Bhagawan Veda Vyasa. He gave us the scriptures like Vedas, Brahmasutra, Upanishads and Puranas in book form, which became available to many generations. Smt. Indira Someshwar spoke about Adi Sankara, his birth, early education, sanyaasa, digvijay, various compositions, establishment of four Matthams and finally his videha mukti.
Brni. Sailataji spoke about Paramaguru Tapovan Maharaj. She called Him the substratum of Chinmaya Mission. She noted that Tapovanji had recognised the urge in Pujya Gurudev to study the scriptures and guided him to be a yogi, an able administrator and also to uphold our ancient culture and civilization.
Shri C. S. Dinesh spoke about Pujya Gurudev, about how he had popularised Bhagawad Gita and our other spiritual texts; making them available to the English-speaking masses. He said Gurudev continued the work of Swami Vivekanandaji and it is being continued four-fold by successors all over the world. Thereafter, the program ended with Gurudev’s aarti. Devotees departed after receiving prasad, with contentment.
