A brief summary of the talks:
Spiritual Knowledge – Knowledge of the Self or Ātma – is not an arcane subject that only a few can understand but a rational, logical enquiry that would benefit all people. There is absolutely no doubt in one’s mind that I Am, I Exist. Underlying all statements of identity is the unshakeable conviction that I Am, I Exist. The Existence-Self that observes one’s body, mind and intellect is the true Self. Hence the enquiry into our authentic, original identity is rational and logical. What is the nature of this Self? Throughout our life, the aim of all our efforts is to be free, happy and immortal. An object is most comfortable in its natural state of being and tends to revert to its natural state – svabhāva – in the absence of conditionings. The nature of one’s true self is Freedom, Joy and Infinitude, therefore we struggle to go back to it. Our true nature is already in us. What is preventing us from discovering it? Avidyā or primal ignorance that expresses as vāsanās, the grooves of instincts and thoughts of previous lives carved in our mind. How do we remove avidyā? By studying the scriptures. They are not of human origin and hence they are pramāṇa, uncontradictable, indubitable sources of knowledge. Hence, spiritual knowledge logically describes the problem, the solution and the means.
