With the Blessings of Maa Saraswati and Pujya Gurudev, Chinmaya Mission Mumbai, Jayam Zone organized a Matru Puja for children aged 5-15 yrs on 23rd Oct, at Khatwari Darbar, Khar West. Swami Swatmanandaji graced the event with his presence. Around 45 children participated in the Pooja along with their mothers, grandmothers and siblings.
The event opened with Shri. C.S. Manohar giving a brief introduction about the Mission and Swamiji. Invocation by senior Bala Vihar children set the tone for rest of the evening and junior Bala Vihar children presented Swamiji with a fruit basket as a token of gratitude.
Swamiji’s satsang was well received by all. Offerings were made to Maa Saraswati by Swamiji accompanied by senior Bala Vihar children chanting the Sharada Stotram. Matru Pooja was then conducted under the guidance of Swamiji. Children wrote a letter for their mothers and in turn they received a surprise gift from them. Keeping in tune with the Navratri theme a game was planned which was enjoyed by all. Aarti was performed for Maa Saraswati, aarti yajmans were presented with Prasad pustikas, books and pens offered to Maa Saraswati were distributed among children.
The event concluded with Dandiya which is symbolic of the fight between Maa Durga and Mahishasur. There was an enthusiastic participation by everyone including Swamiji. Prasad boxes were distributed.
