Chinmaya Jayanti was celebrated at Jayam center on 8th May from 5.30 to 7pm. Around 41 people participated in the event. They were welcomed on the 107th anniversary of Gurudev Swami Chinmayanandaji.
The celebration began with invocation prayer by Rupaji. The theme of our day was Gurudev and Bhagvad Geeta.
Manoharji spoke on the shloka number 30 from chapter 3 of Bhagvad Geeta. Gurudev, to make it more interesting used the parables which Manoharji explained nicely. He said we cannot sometimes memorize the shloka but we remember the parables. Gurudev spoke on lots of parables. He selected some and tried to explain Gurudev's expression by His words. There are three aspects that bring mental fever (vigatjwara) while performing actions. That is Attachments(nirmam). He explained through a parable of Businessman. " Nothing is permanent. It may change. " Gurudev taught through the parable " Loss and gain is not permanent, So without having Attachments do your work. " Through the parable of heaven and hell Gurudev explained, " Do not expect (nirashir) either heaven or hell " The story of King explained to surrender to God and do actions which removes our agitation and worries.
After the enlightening talk of Manoharji we chanted Gurustotram.
Manjariji spoke on her experiences with Gurudev. She selected three names of Gurudev from the Ashtotar namavali, Anushashan priyaya namah, Utsahvardhakaya namah, Vinod priyay namah. Gurudev used to start his yagna on time not even waiting for a VIP to come late for the inauguration. Gurudev used to crack jokes even when he was in the hospital. Gurudev's rememberance ( smaranmatrana) increases our " Utsah".(Utsahvardhakay namah).
The 3rd chapter of Bhagvad Geeta a ( karmayoga) was Gurudev's favorite chapter. We chanted 1 to 20 verses of chapter 3.
Pratibhaji spoke on Gurudev's teaching in Bhagvad Geeta and the quality of Sevak, that is Non Doership. Linked with the chapter 10 - ' Aksharnam Akaro Asmi ' As all the letters are incomplete without "A", all the Sevaks are incomplete without the grace and blessings of Gurudev. He said, I'm the Radio the speaker within is my Guru. Thus, we are just an instrument. Gurudev speaks through us. We are learning for the learners. Lord is the real doer not we are. Gurudev said beautifully that, " Bring your head and heart where your hands are working ". Very joy of action will be our ' Karmaphala ", a result of actions. Gurudev built so many Vidhyalaya, Temples and did thousands of yagnas with Non doership. This is " Karma Prayanay Namah".
Rupaji rendered melodious Guru Bhajans, which was followed by Paduka Pooja. Concluded with Arti and Shanti path. Mukhya yajman and Upyajman were honored by a token of love by Zonal trustee, Smt. Anjali Dalal. Prasad was distributed. Everybody appreciated and enjoyed the divine atmosphere.
